The Digging Club

"K, look, there's Madeline. Are you still playing with her at recess?"

"No, she's not in the digging club."

"The what?"

"The digging club."

I proceeded to ask what the digging club was. Duh!! It's a group that digs at recess. It appears they are treasure hunting after lunch and increasing the "holes" all over the dry cracked playground dirt. I asked who all was in the digging club. He listed 3 or 4 boys. I asked who came up with the digging club. He did. I asked if he was the leader of the digging club. He said he guessed he was because if they weren't having the club one day he got to say it was cancelled.

"So, why isn't Madeline in the digging club?"

"Because she doesn't want to get all dirty."

The digging club . . .

Good for you Madeline! No little girl named Madeline should have dirt under her fingernails! It's just not right.

Maybe my boys get their onion tastes from their uncle! You should see those 2 with an awesome blossom!

I can remember .... At recess we raced toward an unkept area near the creek where the weeds had grown tall. We pulled weeds and built a fort with them. Keep up the good work K. Develop those skills that will come in handy later in life.

What leadership skills! : ) Little boys are a hoot! David's into rocks right now... can't pass by one! He even brought home a chunk of pavement from the parking lot at the fire station one day!

You think he would let us join! There are 4 of us here with plenty of hole digging experience. We even have our own personalized shovels.
