I love having the opportunity to treasure something that belonged to our family before us.

A couple of years ago, Dad "inherited" his grandparents bedroom furniture.
This is a picture of the furniture at his grandparents' house before they started clearing the house to put it up for sale.
He was able to refinish the dresser pretty quickly.

He said he took off 50 years of Pledge furniture polish.

Once he got the wood clean, he polished it up with tongue oil. It had a beautiful natural cherry finish.

We put new hardware on the drawers and put the dresser in our bedroom for the time being.
At that time, we didn't have a place for the bed in the house, so it went into the attic. Once we got to the rent house last fall, it was put on the to-do list for new house preparation projects.
Dad had a time getting all those spindles cleaned up. It was a several week

project working in various light settings to get all the nitty gritty grime out of the crevices of the wood. He polished it up and set it up in the storage room in the rent house to admire his work.

Now Bear enjoys her new bed (and dresser out of the picture...) in her new room.
